On downtown Main Street,
ultra-light Interurban Car #72 picks up passengers in front of
Carl's Rexall Drug Store. This interurban stop also served the AT&SF Railway
Depot just north of Car #72 behind the trees in Santa Fe Park on Main Street.
The interurban has just crossed over five Santa Fe tracks and one Frisco spur
line paralleling Depot Street in
the background. Curved tracks converging right into South Depot Street lead to
the Union Electric Passenger Depot and Railway Express Agency, the UPS/FedEx of
the first half of the 20th century when hourly trolleys and very fast trains
were the cheapest and fastest way to ship packages. Cherryvale, circa 1942.
