Open year round,
Big Hill Lake was
built in 1981 just 5-miles east of downtown Cherryvale. It is nestled in the
rolling, timbered "Little Ozark" countryside offering many recreational
opportunities including fishing in pristine waters, hunting, boating,
picnicking, swimming, bird and animal watching, and hiking trails. As the
only clear water lake of its type in Kansas, it offers visitors a break from
the typical lakes in Kansas and other mid-America states. Fishermen will
find a fishing berm, steep drop-offs and controlled brush piles
which encourage growth and development of many varieties of fish. The lake is a
wonderful place for family get-togethers and reunions. Along the east
and west side of the lake is a 17-mile horse trail with special facilities for those
camping with their horses. The trail winds through a variety of terrain
ranging from open meadows to wooded hills within view of the lake. It
provides great riding for all ages to enjoy. |
